FOUNDER AND COACH
I’m Julia Van Der Werf—founder of Rooted Mosaic, intercultural coach, leadership and operational strategist, and lifelong learner. Originally from Pittsburgh, I’ve called many places home, including over a decade in Washington, D.C., where I taught 4th and 5th grade and founded a nonprofit serving families in an under-resourced community in Northeast D.C.
Now rooted in Minneapolis and navigating the middle school years with my three boys, my life has been a journey of learning to live on purpose—making decisions with faith, stepping out in boldness, and growing through every opportunity to do better. I’m passionate about helping others do the same: aligning who they are with how they show up in the world. I’m still a work in progress, but that’s where the beauty of this journey lives.
We need to do this work in the community. Every one of us has an opportunity to live our lives on purpose, and when we connect with one another, we pool our strength, energy, and creativity to forge paths that have value.
